Date ; Friday, January 06, 2006 Time ; 5:58 PM Title ; Leadership Training '06 You know, I never really expected the Prefects Leadership training thing to be fun. But it really was! So basically all the activities we do and all are for a reason. Let me start from the beginning. So basically I ate lunch with Caren, Kelly and Ruth and then we went up. We waited for awhile and then Mrs Tay and Mrs Singh arrived. We went into the AVA room and then we received this red colour file which held all the notes and everything. Then we went out to the big area outside the AVA room and then we played a game! It was sort of like and ice breaker. The idea of the game is to take the post-it notes off each others bag. The person with the most in hand wins... Nothing. After that, we played a game called line-up. Mrs Singh would call out a category, for example, "Height". So we are supposed to arrange ourselves into that position. So the categories that were given were "Month of birthday", "Length of hair" and "Number of children in the family". Our group won the number of children in the family one because our numbers were only 2 and 3. So we went back to the AVA room and I found out 2 of the P5 prefects names. Andrea and Alexandra. We sat down in the AVA room and talked about the game. Then we did this Natural Habt activity. We then sort of discussed the 5 questions that we had chosen from the 10 that they had given us on Wednesday. Then we did this REALLy funnily weird game. We were supposed to copy our partners actions. Caren and I were acting really weird. I saw Mrs Zakaria laughing. But it was really funny and through the whole entire thing, we were laughing away. Then we did this worksheet thingy. We had to tick what we thought was required for a leader, then we ticked the ones that we thought we had. I think we did one more activity, then we had a break. For the break, Mrs Singh had bought us these cakes in 2 flavours. Kaya and chocolate. The thing that really pissed me off was that when we were lining up, I was behind Debbie. And then right after that, this irritating person called Elizabeth I think cut right into the line! I was like saying to Caren really loudly about someone cutting into the queue and she didn't move at all! I have no idea how she became a prefect. Sheesh. Bitch. So after the break, we went back into the room and had some more of the talking and things like that. Then we went for another activity. This activity was about communication. The idea of the game is that the 2 people at the end of the row would have their eyes open while everyone was closing their eyes and leaning forward. Then Mrs Singh would toss the coin. And when it's heads, the 2 people with their eyes open will have to squeeze the person next to them's hand and then they pass it on until the last person and then the last person will open her eyes and grab the ball. For the first game, we got a point. Then the next game the other group got the point. Then we got the point again. Soon, it was my turn to grab. When I grabbed the ball, it turned out that it wasn't heads! So my group lost a point. That made in one all. Then it was my turn to look. The person opposite me didn't exactly know what to do. So when Mrs Singh tossed the coin, she was staring at my hand to see if I squeezed the other person. So when it was the turn to squeeze, I sent it out first but in the end the person opposite me got the ball. Then Caren came over to the side but we still lost the point. We went back to the AVA room and we talked about communications. Then after the communication stuff, we went on to the last and final activity. It was called, "Marshmallow Tower"! We were split into 7 groups of 6 and we had to build the highest and most steady tower out of marshmallows and toothpicks in 7 minutes. We were very, very unsuccessful. Our group ended up with a pile of marshmallows flopping over each other. The good part was that we still had one more packet, and that was given to us to consume. So we spent a few more minutes eating and washing our hands. Then we went in and talked some more about the activity. Then we had a closing and then finish! Andrea, Alexandra and I finished the marshmallows up. |
